柯旗化故居 The Ke Qi-hua House

柯旗化先生作為一個熱情、好學的知識份子，不僅投身教育的志業，更致力於文學創作，卻因政治的無情遭致17年的黑牢，在出獄後的餘生中，投入民主運動與文化宣傳，見證並參與了臺灣社會的另一波轉變。
故居內展出原家具陳設，並搭配書信、照片等相關文物展示，呈現柯旗化與其家人的生活風貌，希望增進民眾對臺灣民主進程之了解與認識，紀念這位集英文文法家、作家與政治受難者多重身分於一身的先行者。

As a passionate and studious intellectual, Ke Qi-hua devoted himself to education and the creation of literary works. However, for political reasons, he was wrongfully imprisoned for 17 years. After his release, he threw himself into political movements and cultural promotion, both witnessing and playing a part in another wave of change in Taiwan’s society.

In order to commemorate the late Ke’s contribution to Taiwan, his old residence is now a space for exhibition. Some furnishings have been kept in the house, along with letters and photos, to reflect the way the family used to live. Centered on Ke’s experience, the exhibition uses interactive installations to shed light on the background of the White Terror and human rights movements in Kaohsiung as well as the progress of democracy in Taiwan, all with the aim of honoring this English grammarian, author, political victim, and pioneer of Taiwan’s democratic movement.
